In the first part, there is a small strip of sand between the rock formations that extend into the sea that calm the water and make it perfect for swimming. A small stairway provides access to the beach and a tunnel connects Praia dos Estudantes to Praia da Batata.

Ponta da Piedade is one of those places that is hard to believe really exists. Located about 3Km from the centre of Lagos, it has probably the most amazing coastline in the world. Featuring an impressive combination of majestic rock formations, arches, caves, ochre-coloured cliffs, and crystal green water, this beach will definitely take your breath away.

On the other end of Ponta da Piedade and only 3 km from the historical centre of Lagos lies the charming beach of Porto de Mós, the second largest beach in Lagos.

The sandy beach of Meia Praia stretches round Lagos bay, starting near the north breakwater of the Ribeira de Bensafrim stream and over 5 km to the western breakwater of the Ria de Alvor.
At the western end we are surprised by the view of Lagos and Ponta da Piedade that stretches into the sea. Here the horizon opens up, between the wide line of the ocean, the low dunes of the beach, and the gentle dark green hills, covered with pine forest and scrub extending inland.
